Customer Background:

One of the manufacturing companies in Indonesia that focus on producing Recycled Paper by producing Chip Board, Super Chipboard, Core A and Core B. Their main raw material is Old Corrugated Container and Mix Waste.

Their head office is in Barcelona, but they have managed creating factories in Indonesia and other Asian countries. They have been established for more than 60 years in the business; they have supported the paper production globally.

Customer Challenge

The customer is looking for options to their exit their data centers, since their servers is also entering the obsolete phase and their users’ facing numbers of issues during accessing their SAP system. They look for options in cloud infrastructure that could meet their requirements, especially with servers that already certified by SAP.

They also want to optimize their IT costs and move to operational expenses, since the new servers will cost them their capital expenses. The delivery also became an issue, since the hardware delivery took time 2-3 months.

Partner Solutions:

Metrodata, an AWS Partner appointed by the customer seek help to migrate their SAP to AWS. The proposed design proposed by Metrodata Team follows AWS best practices, ensuring reliability, security, and high availability. Metrodata also propose DB-DRC to ensure database replication, and they implement it in different Availability Zones, to ensure all data available if a failure ever happen in the future.

The plan includes:

· Utilizing Amazon EC2 instances for a secure and scalable compute capacity and deploy it in two different subnets for security.

· Deploying VPNs for secure site-to-site connections, especially critical for their remote locations.

· DB-DRC replication for back up if a failure happens in the future, the data is secured in a different availability zone.

· Environment monitoring with Amazon Cloudwatch and Amazon Cloudtrail.

The deployment is using Singapore Region, where they deployed their applications in two subnets (private and public), where all applications and databases implemented in private subnet for security of the applications.
