MTDL Carry Out Another OpenVINO™ Hackathon 2020 #ComputerVision Competition

Collaborate With Intel To Encourages IT Practitioner To Create ICT Solutions

Jakarta, December 28, 2020 - PT Metrodata Electronics Tbk (“MTDL” or the Company), as an Information and Communication Technology (“ICT”) company, particularly in the field of digital solutions and hardware & software distribution, held another OpenVINO™ Hackathon 2020 #ComputerVision Competition through its subsidiary PT Synnex Metrodata Indonesia (“SMI”) in collaboration with Intel on December 23, 2020. The Covid-19 pandemic has not stopped MTDL from continuing to encourage local technology practitioners in Indonesia to create ICT solutions. This virtual competition announced three winners with selected technology solutions in the field of Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT).

 

Susanto Djaja as President Director of MTDL explained, “This year is the second year MTDL held the OpenVINO™ Hackathon #ComputerVision Competition which was previously held in 2019. The event, which was initiated together with Intel technology vendor, aims to support of making Indonesia 4.0 by providing opportunities for technology practitioners in Indonesia. There were 140 applicants with 68 registrants who confirmed their participation and 30 of them are serious about submitting their proposals to be tested.”

 

In the OpenVINO™ Hackathon 2020 #ComputerVision Competition, there are four competition categories which are the best AI-based solutions from Indonesia, namely Retail, Healthcare, Agriculture, and Industrial. Through a rigorous test, participants who were in the top five were successfully selected to take part in the demo stage. The solutions demonstrated are the best AI-based solutions, such as Medical Image Analysis Platform, Seamless & Personalized Grocery Retailer Marketing Tools, Plant Pest Detection System for Agricultural Commodities, Leveraging Computer Vision for Beauty & Fashion Product Discovery in Online and Offline Retail, and Semen Analysis with Deep Learning for In Vitro Fertilization Fertility Labs.

 

“The OpenVINO™ Hackathon 2020 #ComputerVision Competition is a challenging competition, especially when it is held in a pandemic situation. However, we are still optimistic that many will adopt Intel OpenVINO™ technology and get the best AI-based solutions from Indonesia. Together with Intel, we will bring the best technology from the world to Indonesia, and vice versa from Indonesia to the world through the best-proposed solutions. The judging criteria are resolving general problems in the business world or the environment, simplicity on implementation, and business value,” said Lie Heng as Director of SMI.

 

The Jury consists of Herianto as Director of IoT & Cloud Business Development at SMI, Maria Kalangi as IoT Aggregator Lead Intel Corporation, and Guan Boon Tan as APJT Intel IoTG FAE, Intel Technology Asia Pte Ltd. The OpenVINO™ Hackathon 2020 #ComputerVision competition announced three winners with cash prizes of tens of millions of rupiah in which all taxes were borne by the winners.

 

The first winner received IDR50 million in cash, namely the Hibatul Ghazi & Mochammad Abdurrozaq Team with the solution “EzSperm - Semen Analysis with Deep Learning for In Vitro Fertilization and Fertility Labs”. EzSperm is a semen analysis method with deep learning methods to see the quality and fertility of sperm which can be used for humans and farm animal. The method is to use the two products provided, namely a microscope device (AccuScaning) and a mobile application (RapidScan). Where this application will help scan when the mobile phone is attached to an laboratory microscope. This solution was triggered because the IVF industry is currently growing and the demand is increasing annually.

 

Then, the second winner with IDR30 million in cash, namely the Al Varrel Putra Kusuma team, Salman Al Farisi, Muhammad Aditya Hilmy who presented the “Allure AI: Leveraging Computer Vision for Beauty & Fashion Product Discovery in Online and Offline Retail” solution. Then, the third winner with cash amounting to IDR10 million which fell to individual, namely Muhammad Shalahuddin Yahya Sunarko with the solution “MEDIMASIS: Medical Image Analysis Platform”. Finally, the fourth and fifth winners will also receive cash prizes of IDR5 million each. “In the future, it is expected that MTDL can continue to contribute to supporting technology in Indonesia by providing opportunities for local technology actors. As well as continuing to be able to present the best ICT solutions that can support Indonesian technology to keep getting better,” concluded Susanto.
